Miami Grove FC (UPSL Women) Providing Pathways to the Pros

March 6th, 2025

Semi-professional women’s team Miami Grove Football Club continues to make strides in developing players for the professional level. Following a successful season in which the team finished first in the UPSL Women Florida South Conference, Miami Grove FC is proud to announce that another player has earned a professional contract. Over the past year, two players from the club have recently signed professional deals, and a third has received an international call-up.

Laura Sofia Carvajal Granados played a crucial role in Miami Grove FC’s championship-winning season, helping the team finish as the highest-scoring team in UPSL Women. Now, the forward is set to compete professionally in Malta’s first division, with aspirations of moving to one of Europe’s top five leagues.

“The UPSL provided me with the opportunity to continue playing at a high level all year-round, not just in the summer.” She explained. “The league is well-organized, and the competition is strong. Having the chance to continue playing after college obviously helped me so much to stay ready for my professional soccer journey.”

In addition to Carvajal Granados, Miami Grove FC players Claire Monyard and Amanda Gugliotta have also secured significant opportunities. Monyard signed with Roses de Montreal in the Canadian First Division earlier this summer, while Gugliotta now fully represents the Venezuela Women’s National Team. All three athletes competed in the UPSL during the 2024 season, allowing them to maintain peak fitness and technical sharpness.

The team’s increase in exposure in the last 12 months coincides with the league’s efforts to expand and invest in the women’s game. The recent announcement of the first-ever UPSL Women’s National Championship, only helps further expand visibility and exposure for top female semi-professional players across the country.

All applications for the UPSL Women Spring season are still being accepted. Teams can secure their spot by contacting UPSL Women’s National Director Amer Mian at [email protected] or visit www.upsl.com for more information.
